KALAMAZOO (WKZO) -- March is upon us, and that means it's colorectal cancer awareness month.
Colorectal cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the United States, behind only lung cancer. Doctor Edward Itawai, with Bronson Medical Center, says that the important thing is to bite the bullet and get screened when you're 50. He says patients should think of it like a road test they simply have to pass every so often once reaching a certain age.
Itawai added that it's a common misconception a colorectal screening is embarrassing or painful. He says it's neither...and it could just save your life.
