The amount of people aged 50-59 who are diagnosed with malignant melanoma has tripled since 1982.
According to data released by Cancer Research UK an average of 25 people a day receive a diagnosis of this type of skin cancer. Experts have linked the rise of low price holidays in the sun in the 1970s and 80s with the increase in cases. Yinka Ebo, senior health information officer at Cancer Research UK, told the Daily Mail: "The increased rates we?re seeing are most likely a reflection of past tanning behaviour."
